"An American Myth" was my most Walt Kelly-influenced Philo comic strip.  It was drawn during my  1975 " year of transition". The Boston school system was in federal receivership and  court-order to desegregate. Four years later I would be helping to develop a team-taught environmental program on Thompson Island that was offered as an alternative for kids attending South Boston High School.

Part two of "An American Myth" contains a  number of local Massachusetts political figures including the then-current (1975) Massachusetts Governor Michael Dukakis, Boston Mayor Kevin White, Boston City Councilor Louise Day Hicks and former Massachusetts Governor Francis W. Sargent.
